Some progress finally

New spindels, brake master cylinder, brake discs, calipers, brake fluid reservoir.... should move the bug garage #1 this month.

Some snack during hard work, it was 1. of May! (sad)
 Should I put thos deep sixes in front also.....

I would had time to do more but I was out of parts, because brake hoses were too short and I forgot to buy nuts to the front axles =) (the ones that the bearings and the hole disc is held in place).

Spindel removal

Old brakes were in good condition after stored 4 years outside (and winters ofcourse).

And same thing to other side. Next job is to fit new kingpins to dropped spindles and change master brake cylinder (to a 2-circuit system) and hoses..... and let's not forget 2-circuit reservoir =)
Should I change those shocks too... those are 15 years old bugback... but hey no leaks! (At least i don't remember that those had never leaked)

First start after two years:

And after that rear end bolted on and on the trailer and to the secret garage =) where I can change the brakes and wheels. Let's see if this beetle sees some driving on the road finally this summer.

Winter is here again

Well actually winter has been here for two months now, and no progress with the bug, sad.

Wasa Aircooled Dyno Day a.k.a. WADD2010

Cars were cooled by air and air was cooled by water =) but a little rain did not ruin our day.

Best hp was 343 at wheels and over 400Nm torgue but not that supercharged oval above... Nikke decided to just adjust advance.

SCC2010 was held in Gardemoen, Norway last weekend. 6 aircooled VW's from Vaasa went there and I joined the team at Turku harbour. Really nice event with lots of fast aircooled vws.
There were some problems with cars during 1700km journey but all cars came back to home safely.

Here is a picture from Stockholm harbour where Peppi is changing the thrust bearing to his baja. Bearing broke again after 120km and we changed it again at SCC but this time Kennedy stage 2 was changed also due to some damage on it. After this Peppi tested the clutch on the strip and it worked fine all the way to home.
